We had all the cousins over on Christmas evening and brought these out after dinner. Perfect weather, heaps of laughter and the kids didn't want to come inside.
They're simple, a little fiddly at first and best when it's calm outside. But watching the kids enjoy them has been absolutely worth it.
Thought these might be another little novelty. Instead they've earned a permanent spot in our outdoor toy box.
The sky was just starting to go pink when we tried them. The little lights looked beautiful spinning down against it. My daughter still talks about it.
Not our finest launch. We eventually found the helicopter and the kids thought the whole rescue operation was brilliant.
Four was enough for our family, but I can imagine these being really fun with a larger group of cousins.
The small pieces and button batteries are something we keep an eye on. We check everything before and after play, and the kids use the launchers with supervision.
We've bought outdoor toys before that come out once and disappear. These have been requested three evenings in a row.
My son refuses to call them helicopters. They're officially his sky spinners and apparently that's final.
Makes such a difference having enough launchers for a little group. Everyone could have a go together.
They're lightweight, so I wouldn't expect them to survive being stepped on. We've been showing the kids how to collect and pack them away carefully.
I reckon I did more walking retrieving the helicopters than I did on my morning walk. Kids were having the time of their lives though.
We thought we'd lost it completely. Turned up beside the garden bed about ten minutes later. The kids treated it like a rescue mission.
Everyone insists theirs went highest. Nobody has any proof. We've agreed to hold another championship on Sunday.
That's all I've heard this afternoon. "Let's try again, Mum." At least they're enjoying themselves.
I reckon these would be lovely for kids who enjoy outdoor activities. They're different from the usual balls and frisbees.
These need proper outdoor space. Once we got to the park, they were brilliant.
They're fun in daylight, but once the sky darkens the lights really stand out.
Bought these for the children. Ended up standing around watching my husband try to beat his own launching record for twenty minutes.
We're lucky to have an open park nearby. The helicopters have become an excuse for our evening walk down there.
Every time we pack them away, she suddenly remembers that she hasn't had her final turn. Apparently final turns don't count unless she wins.
We had a couple of awkward launches and the wings needed adjusting. Still enjoyable once we got used to it.
Nice having something that both kids and adults can enjoy together. We spent a lovely Saturday evening outside.
Grandad showed the kids how to use them, Dad started a competition and the grandchildren did most of the running. Everyone had a laugh.
My son calls it the backyard light show. He's convinced we need to invite the neighbours over for the next performance.
My daughter couldn't quite manage the launcher at first and got a bit frustrated. We practised together and she ended up being one of the best at it.
Bought this for my niece who's mad about anything that flies. She's already asked her mum to take her to the park again tomorrow.
The first time all four went up with the lights on, everyone went quiet for a second. Then there was a lot of yelling and running.
These are much better in an open area without trees or powerlines. Once we'd moved away from the houses, the kids really enjoyed them.
I somehow got the best launch of the afternoon. The grandkids are demanding a rematch next weekend.
My son kept a tally of every successful flight in a notebook. Apparently he's collecting data for his future career as a pilot.
Just a fun little outdoor set. Does what it's meant to do.
Took these to the park with a few friends. Didn't really plan a game, the kids just started making up their own challenges.
